Methods of Recycling, Properties and Applications of Recycled Thermoplastic Polymers

Methods of Recycling, Properties and Applications of Recycled Thermoplastic Polymers Abstract This study aims to provide an updated survey of the main thermoplastic polymers in order to obtain recyclable materials for various industrial and indoor applications. The synthesis approach significantly impacts the properties of such materials and these properties in turn have a significant impact on their applications. Due to the ideal properties of the thermoplastic polymers such as corrosion resistance, low density or user-friendly design, the production of plastics has increased markedly over the last 60 years, becoming more used than aluminum or other metals. Also, recycling is one…

Plastic particles found in bottled water

Tests on major brands of bottled water have found that nearly all of them contained tiny particles of plastic. In the largest investigation of its kind, 250 bottles bought in nine different countries were examined. Research led by journalism organisation Orb Media discovered an average of 10 plastic particles per litre, each larger than the width of a human hair. Companies whose brands were tested told the BBC that their bottling plants were operated to the highest standards. The tests were conducted at the State University of New York in Fredonia. Plastic pollution in sea set to treble in a decade, warn government scientists

Plastic pollution in sea set to treble in a decade, warn government scientists The amount of plastic in the world’s oceans is set to treble in a decade unless action is taken to deal with the problem, according to a major new report. Experts warned that plastic is one of the biggest threats facing the world’s seas, while highlighting other keys issues including rising sea levels, warming oceans and metal and chemical pollution. The Foresight Future of the Sea Report warns against an “out of sight, out of mind” approach to the problems affecting the world’s seas, while calling for concerted action on plastics in particular. Experts write the Foresight reports to…
